Twitter Takes Step to Ban Revenge Porn

 

Twitter has announced that they are updating their usage policy in order to clamp down on revenge porn occurring on their site.

 

 

The move aims to eliminate the sharing of images without the knowledge/consent of the image subject.

 

 

Included in the threats and abuse guidelines, Twitter state:

 

 

“You may not post intimate photos or videos that were taken or distributed without the subject’s consent.” 

 

 

Revenge Porn is now considered to be a criminal offence in England and Wales and perpetrators can be met with a 2 year jail sentence if found guilty of the crime.
